Granting Your Employee Options

Once you've created employee option offers in Cake, you have two methods to grant them, depending on whether your employee has already signed their offer letter outside the platform.

Method 1: Employee Already Signed Outside Cake

If your employee has already accepted their offer outside of Cake:

  1. Click "Issue grant" instead of "Send offer"

  2. This ensures no new offer documents are sent to the employee for signing

  3. The system will issue the options in Cake and automatically start the vesting schedule

Method 2: Employee Hasn't Signed Yet

If your employee has not yet signed a contract:

  1. Click "Send grant" (or "Send offer" depending on your region)

  2. Select the relevant offer letter template if you have multiple templates and click "Next."

  3. Choose your delivery method:

    • Email option, or

    • Share link option

  4. Click "Finish" to finalize the grant

Automatic Granting Process

For offers sent through Cake: Once your employee accepts their offer, the options are automatically granted by the system on the date the employee signed the offer letter, or a custom date populated by you during the offer setup process.

  1. Go to your offer list

  2. Click "Offer Action" on the right side of the offer

  3. Click "Edit" and select "Grant Date"

  4. Update the grant date to your preferred date
