How to Issue Share Certificates
Generate professional share certificates for your shareholders directly in Cake. Set up your share certificate template first, then use any of the three methods below.
Before you start
Set up your share certificate template before issuing. See Set Up Your Share Certificate Template.
Choose your certificate type (holdings or transactional) in Settings. See Share Certificate Types, Holdings vs Transactional if you're unsure which to use.
Method 1: Issue a holdings certificate from Shareholders
Use this when your certificate type is set to Holdings share certificate by class in Settings.
Go to Cap Table and select the Shareholders tab.
Find the shareholder and click the issue share certificate icon on the right.
Confirm company details, certificate number, and issue date.
Optionally tick Notify shareholder to send them an email when the certificate is ready.
For US companies: customise legends if needed.
Click Issue certificate.
Method 2: Issue a transactional certificate from Transaction logs
Use this when your certificate type is set to Transactional share certificate in Settings.
Go to Cap Table → Transaction logs.
Find the specific transaction and click the issue share certificate icon on the right.
Confirm the details and click Issue certificate.
Alternatively: go to Cap Table → Shareholders, click the shareholder's name, find the transaction under Transaction history, click More, and select Issue share certificate.
Method 3: Issue certificates in bulk
Bulk issuing is only available for holdings certificates.
Ensure your certificate type is set to Holdings share certificate by class in Settings.
Go to Cap Table and select the Shareholders tab.
Select multiple shareholders using the checkboxes.
Click Issue share certificate from the bulk action menu.
Review and confirm, then click Issue.
What happens next
Certificates are added to each shareholder's profile automatically and are accessible in their My Cake portal. If you ticked Notify shareholder, they receive an email with a link to their certificate. Certificates are also saved in Documents → All documents under the Share Certificates folder.
