### Before You Start

* Create your Cake account at **app.cakeequity.com/signup** and update your billing details

* Download any supporting documents from Carta separately (executed agreements, previous 409A reports), you will upload these to Cake after migration

### Step 1: Export your data from Carta

In Carta, navigate to the **Essentials** tab and select **Run reports** from the dropdown.

Export the following reports (search for **these exact names **in the Run reports section):

* **Cap table report**: select the "Summary", "Detailed", and "Securities ledger by type and class" options

* **Vesting report**: ensure all vesting details are included (including any milestone vesting)

* **Stakeholder details**

If you have stock option plan documents (Eg. Notice of Grant, Stock Option Agreement & Equity Incentive Plan), gather those too.

### Step 2: Send your data to Cake

Send your exported reports to our team using the **secure uploader** (link provided by your onboarding contact), or email **hello@cakeequity.com** to speak directly with the team.

Let us know if you have a deadline, for example, if your Carta subscription is ending on a specific date, and we will prioritise your migration.

### What Happens Next

Our Customer Success team sets up your cap table within **48 hours **(within business days) and schedules a Power Up call to walk you through your new account. Once the migration is complete:

* Upload any supporting documents you downloaded from Carta to **Documents → All documents**

### Common questions

**What Transfer Agent details do I provide to Carta?**

See [Do I need a transfer agent?](https://help.cakeequity.com/article/do-i-need-a-transfer-agent "https://help.cakeequity.com/article/do-i-need-a-transfer-agent") for guidance on what to enter when closing out your Carta account.

**Can I issue replacement certificates in Cake?**

Yes, your securities aren't canceled when migrating, instead, the 'certificates' that were previously issued through Carta in electronic form will need to be reissued. You can issue replacement Stock Certificates through Cake in minutes once the migration is complete through **Cap Table → Outstanding shares**.
