Update Your Shareholder Name on a Share Certificate

If you need the name on your share certificate updated — for example, to reflect a new SMSF or entity name — this change needs to be made by the company you invested in, not Cake. Here's what to do.

Contact the company directly

  1. Reach out to the company you invested in and let them know you need your shareholder name updated on your certificate.

  2. Ask what documentation they need from you to process the change (eg. signed transfer form)

  3. Follow the company's process for submitting your documents.

  4. Confirm with the company if a new certificate will be issued.

Why Cake can't make this change for you

Even minor updates to shareholder details affect corporate records and legal obligations. Only the company that issued your shares can authorise and record this change — Cake doesn't have the ability to alter shareholder records on their behalf.
