Import Existing Option Grants
Add stock option grants that have already been accepted outside of Cake to maintain accurate records and enable automated vesting tracking.
Steps to import existing grants
Go to Incentive Plans → Options (or Stock Options depending on region) and click View pool on your option plan
Click '+ Add new or existing offer' to create a new option offer
Complete the grant details:
Option Holder: Select from the dropdown or add new employee/recipient by entering their name and email (plus optional team and level information)
Grant Size: Enter number of options or percentage to allocate
Start Date: Set when vesting begins
Exercise Price: Enter the strike price the option holder pays to convert options to shares
Vesting Schedule: Choose "Industry Standard" (4-year vest, 1-year cliff) or click Custom to create your own schedule
Advanced Settings: Optionally configure option grant price, expiration type and date, and post-termination exercise period (PTEP)
Choose 'Save draft' instead of 'Send offer' since this grant was already accepted outside of Cake
Issue the grant - Click 'Issue grant' to bypass the signing process
Add historical grant details:
Enter the date the options were originally granted
Upload the executed offer letter or stock option agreement
Optional: Check 'Invite to view holdings in Cake Portfolio' if you want the employee to receive vesting notifications and an invite to Cake
Complete the import - After uploading the executed document, click 'Grant' to finalize the import. The offer will then show "Vesting" status, or "Vested" if the grant is fully vested
You'll see the granted options appear in your cap table with the correct vesting schedule and historical grant date.
