Importing your Share Registry
Get your existing shareholder data into Cake, add shareholders manually for simple cap tables, or use our bulk upload tools for larger registries.
Which method should I use?
Manual entry: Best for simple cap tables with a small number of shareholders. Add shareholders one at a time through the UI.
Bulk upload template: Best for cap tables with more transactions or multiple stakeholder types. Download Cake's Google Sheets template, fill in your data across multiple tabs, and upload each as a CSV.
Handled by our team: For complex cap tables, send your data to our Customer Success team and we'll set it up for you at no extra cost. Contact us via the chat.
Manual entry
Go to Cap Table and select the Shareholders tab.
Click Add → Shareholder.
Enter the shareholder's details and transaction information (see Add Shareholders and Issue Shares for more detailed guide).
Click Issue shares to save.
Repeat for each shareholder.
Bulk upload
Use the Cake Bulk Upload Template. Each tab covers a different type of security, Shares, SAFEs, Convertibles, Warrants, Options, etc. Upload each tab separately as a CSV file.
For full instructions on each tab, see the related articles below.
Column order is automatically detected, you don't need to match the template's exact column order as long as the column names are correct.
