Managing Estimated Value for Stakeholders
Control whether shareholders and option holders can see an estimated value of their equity in MyCake, based on your company's most recent valuation.
How estimated value is calculated
Cake uses your most recent valuation (from Cap Table → Valuations) divided by total securities on issue to calculate a current price per share. That price is then multiplied by each stakeholder's total holdings to show an estimated value.
For option holders: My Cake shows estimated value both before and after exercise costs, so holders can see the net amount they'd receive if they exercised today.
Control visibility
Go to Engage → Stakeholder app.
Click Manage under Visibility settings.
Toggle estimated value visibility for employees and shareholders separately.
Update your valuation
To update the estimated value shown to stakeholders, add a new valuation:
Go to Cap Table → Valuations.
Click + Add valuation.
Enter the post-money valuation, date, and round name.
Save.
Note: Estimated values are illustrative only. They are based on the post-money valuation divided by total securities, not a guarantee of exit value, which depends on liquidation preferences, dilution, and other factors. Make sure stakeholders understand this context.
