Understanding Pro Rata Billing
When you upgrade your plan mid-cycle, you only pay the difference between your old and new plan, adjusted for the time remaining in your billing period.
How it works
When you upgrade, Cake automatically:
Calculates what you've already paid for your current plan in the current period
Deducts that amount from your new plan's cost
Charges you only the remaining difference, adjusted for time left in the cycle
Example
If you're halfway through a monthly Build plan and upgrade to Team, you'll pay approximately half the price difference between the two plans for the remainder of the month. At your next renewal, you'll be charged the full Team plan rate.
Annual plans
If you're on an annual plan and upgrade mid-year, the same logic applies: you're credited for the unused portion of your current plan and charged the difference for the new plan.
