Why Doesn't the Share Certificate State the 'Amount Paid'?
Cake Share Certificate templates don't display the amount 'paid' per certificate. This is by design to avoid confusion.
Why we don't show 'amount paid'
Different certificate types handle this consistently:
Holding certificates combine shares from multiple transactions with potentially different paid amounts
Transactional certificates may also have complex payment structures
Displaying a single 'amount paid' figure could be misleading when shares were acquired through different methods (such as a funding round versus a transfer from another investor).
How to find payment information
To find the amount paid for specific shares:
Check the transaction document (Subscription Agreement or transfer form)
Review the Transaction History in the shareholder's Cake Portfolio
Use the specific offer documents that detail payment terms
Compliance note
In most jurisdictions, showing the amount paid is not required on Share or Stock Certificates, making our approach both compliant and practical.
