What data do I need for my 409A valuation?

A 409A needs a point-in-time snapshot of your Cap Table and equity data. Cake has two exports and which one you use depends on your plan.

With the 409A add-on

  1. Go to Compliance → 409A
  2. Click Download Data

The fuller export, built for a valuation.

Without the 409A add-on

  1. Go to Compliance → Reporting
  2. Click Download XLSX on the Cap table report

A complete Cap Table export your provider can work from.

Using an outside provider

Either export works for a valuation firm you engaged yourself. Send the file across and they can work from it.

If they come back asking for something in a different shape, tell us what they need and we will help you get it out. Once the valuation is done, add it under How do I upload an existing 409A valuation to Cake? so your grants price off it.

What is not in the export

Your financials. Every provider also asks for statements, projections, Articles of Incorporation and a recent pitch deck, and none of those live in Cake. How to start your 409A valuation in Cake has the full list.
