Is a Cake 409A automated, or done by a valuation expert?
Both. Software gets your information in. A valuation expert does the valuation.
Cake's integrated valuator provides fast, IRS-compliant 409A valuations, directly connected to your Cake data.
What you do
Submit your information under Compliance → 409A → Start 409A now. It takes about 20 minutes. You add your financials, projections, Articles of Incorporation and a recent pitch deck, because none of those live in Cake.
What the valuation expert does
- Prepares the draft valuation. It's back within 3 business days, once everything needed is in.
- Walks you through it, one on one. Ask what you want to ask before it's final.
- Signs off the report. You set strike prices against it.
Why it isn't fully automated
Safe harbor needs an independent appraisal. Valuations ordered through Cake are independent appraisals, so they carry safe harbor.
What's included
- Team and Pro: two 409A valuations a year, included
- Build plan: add one on for $1,500 USD
Keeping it current
A 409A lasts twelve months, or until a material event. A new priced round is the one most companies hit. Two a year on Team or Pro covers your annual refresh and one after a round.
