How do I export my Cap Table from Carta?
Carta's exports live under Run reports. Three reports carry everything needed to rebuild your Cap Table elsewhere: the Cap table report, the Vesting report and Stakeholder details. Your signed documents and valuation reports are not in those exports and have to be downloaded on their own.
Export the three reports
In Carta, go to the Essentials tab and select Run reports.
Search for each report by name and run it.
Cap table report. Select the Summary, Detailed and Securities ledger by type and class options. This gives you the position and the transaction history behind it.
Vesting report. Check that all vesting detail is included, including milestone vesting. Grants that are part way through vesting need their full schedule, not just the vested total.
Stakeholder details. Names and email addresses for everyone on the Cap Table.
Download your documents separately
Report exports do not include paperwork. Download these before you close your account:
Executed share and grant agreements
Signed SAFEs and convertible notes
Board consents and resolutions
Previous 409A valuation reports
Your equity incentive plan documents, including any Notice of Grant and Stock Option Agreement
Keep your own copies regardless of where you move to.
