Not receiving emails or invites from Cake?
If you or someone on your team isn't getting emails from Cake it's usually because your company's email security or spam filtering is holding them back. This happens most often in the first few weeks after your team starts using Cake, before your mail system recognises us as a trusted sender.
Here's how to make sure Cake emails always reach you.
What you might be missing
Cake sends emails that matter to your team, including:
Invites - when you add someone to Cake, like a copilot, an admin, or a stakeholder, they get an email invite. If it doesn't arrive, they can't join.
Equity grant notifications - letting stakeholders know when they've been granted equity.
409A and account updates - valuations, account alerts, and other important notices.
If any of these aren't landing, the steps below will fix it.
Important: We never send an email without your permission. Eg no one will be invited to their cap table until you choose to click send.
Who Cake emails come from
All Cake emails are sent from our domain: cakeequity.com
Allowing the whole cakeequity.com domain is the simplest way to make sure every Cake email gets through.
Quick fix (individual users)
If Cake emails are landing in spam or junk:
Open a Cake email in your spam/junk folder.
Mark it as "Not spam" (Gmail) or "Not junk" (Outlook).
Add the sender (e.g.
hello@cakeequity.com) to your contacts or address book.
That tells your mailbox these are wanted, and future emails should arrive in your inbox.
For your IT or email admin (recommended)
If your company blocks or filters emails from new or unknown domains, ask your IT team to allowlist the cakeequity.com domain. This is the most reliable fix and covers every Cake email.
Cake sends through a shared email delivery service, so please allowlist by domain, not by IP address - the sending IPs are shared and can change, so an IP-based rule won't hold.
Google Workspace (Gmail)
In the Admin console, go to Apps > Google Workspace > Gmail > Spam, Phishing and Malware and edit the Email allowlist, or add an Approved senders entry for cakeequity.com. For stronger delivery, create a content compliance rule that bypasses spam filtering for the domain cakeequity.com.
Microsoft 365 (Outlook / Exchange)
In the Microsoft Defender portal, go to Email & collaboration > Policies & rules > Anti-spam, open Allowed senders and domains, and add cakeequity.com. Or create a mail flow (transport) rule to set the spam confidence level (SCL) to -1 for mail from cakeequity.com that passes authentication.
Technical details (for admins)
All Cake email is sent from the
cakeequity.comdomain.Mail is authenticated with SPF and DKIM aligned to
cakeequity.com, so you can safely allow based on a verified, authenticated sender domain. We send via a trusted third-party email delivery provider on shared infrastructure - there's no dedicated sending IP, so please allowlist by domain, not by IP.
