Moving Documents to a New Folder
Keep your documents organized by moving them to a different folder at any time. You move one document or folder at a time, from its own actions menu.
Move a document or folder
Go to Documents → All documents.
Find the document or folder you want to move.
Click Actions on a folder card, or More on a list row, and select Move.
Browse to where you want it. Start at Home and click into folders to go deeper. Use the breadcrumb at the top to step back out.
Click Move here.
The item now appears in its new location.
Move a whole folder
Moving a folder takes everything inside it, including any subfolders. Select Move from the folder's Actions menu and follow the same steps.
Folders Cake creates for you
Cake creates and maintains some folders itself, such as General, Transfers, and Communications. Signed documents are filed into these automatically, so they cannot be moved, renamed, or deleted.
You will not see Move, Rename, or Delete in the actions menu for these folders. Share and Duplicate are still available.
Note: You can move one item at a time. If you need to reorganize a large number of documents, moving the parent folder is usually faster than moving each document individually.
What happens next
The document keeps its sharing settings when it moves. If you shared it with a stakeholder directly, they keep access in the new location. If access came from the folder it used to sit in, that access changes to match the new folder.
